Senator Sherrod Brown Endorses Stinziano for Auditor

COLUMBUS, Ohio – U. S. Sen. Sherrod Brown has endorsed City Council President Pro Tem Michael Stinziano’s election to Franklin County Auditor.

“I am humbled by the support of Sen. Brown, who works hard in Washington to promote middle class families and create new jobs for our communities,” Stinziano said. “His dedication to Ohio’s workers, business owners, and families helps make our state a great place to live and work. As Auditor I will take inspiration from Sen. Brown as I work to protect taxpayer dollars and create modern infrastructure that will provide superior services to our residents.”

“Michael Stinziano understands that our economy is strongest when it grows from the middle out,” said Senator Sherrod Brown. “On Columbus City Council, he has been a leader in creating opportunities for people across Columbus. As County Auditor, he will continue to fight for all residents of Franklin County. I am proud to endorse Michael today and I look forward to working with him to support central Ohio communities.”

This is the latest endorsement Stinziano has received, adding to a growing list of leaders and community organizations who support his bid for Auditor.

Stinziano has worked tirelessly to find common-sense solutions that make Franklin County a great place to work and live. He has been recognized numerous times as Legislator of the Year, and in 2016 was named Citizen of the Year by Columbus Realtors.

He serves as Chair of Council’s Neighborhoods Committee, Technology Committee, and Public Utilities Committee and co-chairs Age-Friendly Columbus, the award-winning citywide initiative working to ensure that people of all ages and abilities can remain in their homes, live independently and maintain a high quality of life.

As County Auditor, he wants to build on his experiences by working in a bipartisan manner to protect and promote the interests of Franklin County residents.

Sen. Brown’s endorsement is the latest addition to an expanding list of groups and community leaders that have endorsed Stinziano for Auditor, including: Teachers for Better Schools, Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen – Ohio State Legislative Board (BLET), Columbus Fire Fighters Union Local #67, Sheet Metal Workers Local #24 (SMART #24), the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association- AFSCME Local 11, AFSCME Local 8 & Retiree Chapter 1184, Franklin County Adelante Democrats, Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio, and Franklin County Young Democrats.

Stinziano resides in the University Community with his wife, Caroline, their two children, Cooper and Riley, and their two rescue pugs, Wrigley and Fenway.
