Latest Issue of Columbus African American Endorses Stinziano for Auditor

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The November issue of the Columbus African American news journal strongly endorses City Council President Pro Tem Michael Stinziano’s election to Franklin County Auditor.

The publication, which is devoted to central Ohio’s black community and seeks to promote positive change with accurate and timely information, said it had concluded Stinziano and the candidates it has endorsed “will best serve our community in an honest and forthright manner.”

The November issue is in addition to the news journal’s previous statement in support of Stinziano, when it said he “is now, and has always been, a true public servant. You will find him in the community, meeting with constituents, listening, questioning, and then proposing solutions.”

The Columbus African American’sendorsement adds to a growing list of publications, leaders and community organizations who support Stinziano’s bid for Auditor, including Congresswoman Joyce Beatty and U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown.

“I am humbled by the support of the African American, which serves our community and our democracy so well. As Auditor I will lead an office that promotes the diversity that makes our neighborhoods the very best places to live and work,” Stinziano said.

Stinziano has worked hard to find common-sense solutions that make Franklin County a great place to work and live. He has been recognized numerous times as Legislator of the Year, and in 2016 was named Citizen of the Year by Columbus Realtors.

He serves as Chair of Council’s Neighborhoods Committee, Technology Committee, and Public Utilities Committee and co-chairs Age-Friendly Columbus, the award-winning citywide initiative working to ensure that people of all ages and abilities can remain in their homes, live independently and maintain a high quality of life.

As County Auditor, he wants to build on his experiences by working in a bipartisan manner to bring the office into the 21stcentury with excellent constituent services and fiscal prudence.

The African American’sendorsement is the latest of a rapidly expanding list of community leaders and groups that have endorsed Stinziano for Auditor, including: Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, Columbus Fire Fighters Union Local #67, Capital University College Democrats, Sheet Metal Workers Local #24 (SMART #24), the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association- AFSCME Local 11, AFSCME Local 8 & Retiree Chapter 1184, Franklin County Adelante Democrats, Stonewall Democrats of Central Ohio, and Franklin County Young Democrats.
