Stinziano Elected Franklin County Auditor

COLUMBUS, Ohio – City Council President Pro Tem Michael Stinziano has been elected Franklin County Auditor, becoming the first Democrat in 80 years to lead that office.

“I am honored that the people of Franklin County have elected me as their Auditor. I will lead an office that is accountable, protects taxpayer dollars and provides excellent constituent services,” Stinziano said. “I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen. It wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

With 100 percent of precincts reporting late Tuesday, Stinziano was leading with 257,853 votes (57%), compared to 195,739 votes (43%) for his opponent, incumbent Republican Clarence Mingo.

With his election as Franklin County Auditor, Stinziano plans to build on his record of serving the community by working in a bipartisan manner to bring the office into the 21stcentury with new ideas and innovations.

“The Franklin County Auditor’s office can be so much more. I look forward to leading an office that will make our community the very best it can be.”

Stinziano resides in the University Community with his wife, Caroline, their two children, Cooper and Riley, and their two rescue pugs, Wrigley and Fenway.
